About Us
The Sunflower Seeds Project was founded by Madge du Preez and Zita du Preez, a mother-daughter team whose combined purpose formed the root system of this organisation. The journey began formally in 2019, but the seed was planted long before.
Our Origin
Madge carried this vision in her spiritual womb for years — a promise planted in prayer and sustained through faith, perseverance, and obedience. She represents the Sunflower: steady, strong, and always turned toward the Source. Zita represents the Rubik’s Cube: strategic, analytical, and built to solve complex problems. Her operational strength, resilience, and ability to create structure turned the seed into a functioning system with long-term impact.
Together, they formed something unique — a purpose-led model designed to uplift women, widows, fatherless youth, and vulnerable households with dignity and strategy.
Madge’s Legacy
Madge du Preez has impacted tens of thousands through her years at UWC, her international travels, youth programs, motivational talks, and transformational workshops.
She is the author of Gemeng, creator of the GEM Journey framework, and writer of multiple developmental resources that continue to influence communities.
Her life is marked by courage, impact, and intercession.
Honouring Those Who Paved the Way
We pay tribute to the women who have passed but whose prayers, discipline, and faithful service made this possible:
-
Evelyn Jeffery, the Prayer Warrior
-
Hannah, the Disciplinary
-
Sharon, the Faithful Servant
Their legacy forms the spiritual and moral foundation of the Sunflower Seeds Project.
Zita’s Purpose
Zita became the first seed to bloom into full operational purpose. With a problem-solving mind and a gift for systems, she turned the vision into a structured, scalable project. She built the administrative backbone, digital infrastructure, and impact model that now drives the Sunflower Seeds Project forward ensuring sustainability, clarity, and measurable outcomes. She alone was the life force to keep it moving, now she needs support to make it sustainable.
Our Core
This organisation stands as a Garden of Hope — a generational baton passed from prayerful women who endured hardship, including divorce, loss, and rebuilding.
What was planted in faith is now producing fruit for women, families, and communities who need restoration and strength.
The true SONFlower — back straight, chin up, face toward the SON.

Today, we honour Madge du Preez, the woman whose faith carried this seed long before it took form. As she often says, this vision was nurtured in her spiritual womb.a promise planted in prayer, watered through perseverance, and now bearing fruit through generations.
A phenomenal woman, Madge has touched the lives of tens of thousands, from her years at UWC to her travels in America, inspiring countless souls through youth workshops, motivational talks, and transformational programs. Her legacy is one of impact, courage, and unwavering belief in the power of purpose.
She is the author of Gemeng, a collection of poetry that captures the heartbeat of identity and hope; the architect behind the GEM Journey structure; and the creator of numerous motivational booklets and workshops that continue to shape lives.
Her prayers empowered the first fully grown sunflower, the next generation to rise and take the baton forward. This is her living legacy, for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, a reminder that what is planted in faith will bloom in time.
We also acknowledge her mother, Evelyn Jeffery, the steadfast prayer warrior whose intercession paved the way.
To both of you — we salute you.
